Passions

Oh my passions, my passions, my passions!
There aren't enough hours in a day, days in a week, weeks in a month and months in year to satisfy my quench for them. I wish from time to time that I can just spend endless days just doing what I love! I am self taught (for the most part) in my passions...

Writing:
I remember as a child writing my little heart away. I have had so many dairies/journals but for one reason or another I always seem to stop writing in them. Then I always go back but with a whole new book. I feel that if I write it all down I will always remember, that one day if I have a child of my own that loves to write or read they will be able to learn about their mama. I write for myself, I write for all that care to read. I have written poems, short stories and have even attempted to write a novel. One day I will be published, I dream of that day and hope it will come to be sooner rather than later.

Drawing:
Since I was a child I remember always wanting to draw and color. I didn't really care for dolls, I wanted art supplies but my parents didn't understand this passion of mine. Now as an adult I spend so much time looking at art, buying books, buying pens, pencils, anything that I have my heart set and want to try.

LEFT: Draw on paper using a black, red and blue pens. At the time I new I wanted to do something with a heart and wings and this was created. This is one of my favorite pieces because though everything looks symmetrical it isn't. There is nothing perfect about this heart and I love it because of that. From time to time I hide things in my pictures but this time around there isn't anything hidden, what you see is what you see. Nothing more.

RIGHT: Done one canvas with black Prisma markers, the wedding picture was printed on regular paper so that I could draw on it with ease. This was the out come.

I have done a few of these and I keep them at work in my office. This year (2010), just a few months ago was the first time that I started to work with canvas. I was scared and didn't know how to take on the challenge but I think that i did a good job with what I have come up.
LEFT: Black ink done on a white envelope. When Juan was away I would write to him a letter every day and send them out to him every week. For every week I would draw on the back of the envelope and this is one of my favorite ones. I plan one day to frame all of the envelopes, put them all together somehow.
Painting:
I have always wanted to try to paint but never knew how to start. When I started to draw on canvas it only made me want to paint even more. I finally just bought some brushes and paint and started!

RIGHT: This is my first try at painting on canvas. White canvas, black and white paint. I painted the whole canvas black, I had drawn something on it that I wasn't too happy about so in my eyes the canvas was already a wasted, why not try painting? The outcome....I love. Sure it's a little more simple than what I'm use to but I tried something and I loved the outcome and I'm happy that I took the chance.

LEFT: Canvas. Colors: red, black, green, white, orange, yellow. I had seen a picture on a magazine that I get from time to time that has a lot of different types of art and so I thought why not have a painting date night with my good friend Vero. We both worked off the same picture and we came up with our own bird. Mine came out dark (no surprise there) and hers came out very cute with a bright pink bow. I have this picture on display in my living room and I can't wait until I am able to add to my collection.

Crocheting:
First let me say that I'm only so good. My mother on the other hand is a master! One day I hope to be just as good as her! This is something that I love to do during the fall and winter and even spring with it isn't too hot. I love to be able to make blankets and scarfs. For my close friends I have made blankets for them and when those close friends have their first baby I make a baby blanket for them as well.

RIGHT: This is a baby blanket that I made for a friend that I have known since middle school. She didn't know I was making it for her and mailed it to her since I was not able to attend her baby shower. There are two different ways that I know how to make a blanket and for those of you that are amazing and professional, please forgive me but I'm not really technical. I make the diamond blanket and the box blanket. Since I learned to make the diamond blanket it has been my favorite. I just turns out so much more beautiful than the box one.

LEFT: I hope to be able to get good enough to be able to start making these little guys. This is one of my goals. So fingers crossed people! I want to be able to post a ninja on here soon!

Baking:
This year I started a new little passion. BAKING! I even took a class to learn how to make my own butter cream frosting. I took this class with my good friend Cris. It was fun and so much work. It took a lot of time out of my week, what with the baking and the planning and the making of the frosting but it was fun and I loved it! I want to learn to start making fondant and working with it.

RIGHT: Yes, I make my own frosting and I have my very own Kitchen Aid mixer!!! The husband bought it for me one Christmas! If you want to make your own frosting you NEED a mixer! Do not try to do this by hand because it won't come out as well.  I need to go and buy more mixing blows! (Yes, I took that picture with my awesome phone and a program I have on it!)

LEFT: This my first cake for the class I had. I was originally going to make a cupcake cake since the theme to the class was to make a character and I was okay-ed to make a cupcake cake. After it came out of the oven everyone (husband, Cris and myself) agreed that it looked like a skull and so made a day of the dead cake! I plan to make a few more like this now that I have a better hand on decorating. That cupcake mold sure came in handy!

These are my passions but from time to time I do love to do other things. Like working out for fun (yes, I try to lose the love weight but it just never happens), people watching, organizing, and collecting off things. With time you will see what I mean....
